International Vienna Open 2026 – Karate Tournament in Vienna
The International Vienna Open is the annual karate tournament of the Vienna Karate Federation (Verband der Wiener Karate-Do Vereine). On Saturday, 7 November 2026, the 23rd edition brings athletes from all over Europe to Vienna for a full day of Kata and Kumite competition under WKF rules. This page summarises everything international clubs, coaches and athletes need: date and venue, how to enter, travel information and who to contact.

Saturday, 7 November 2026 – one competition day. Set-up and accreditation start on Friday, 6 November; exact times follow in the invitation.

Sporthalle Hopsagasse
Hopsagasse 7, 1200 Vienna, Austria – several tatami running in parallel from morning until evening.
Disciplines
Kata and Kumite, individual events, in age and weight categories according to the invitation. Competition is held under the current WKF rules.
Entries
Entries are made exclusively by clubs via Sportdata. Entry fee, deadline and late-entry rules are stated in the invitation.
How to enter
Read the invitation
Open the tournament on Sportdata and download the invitation: categories, fees, deadline, weigh-in and schedule.
Enter your athletes
Your club registers its athletes in the Sportdata club account before the entry deadline. Individual athletes cannot enter themselves.
Pay the entry fee
Pay as instructed in the invitation. Entries are confirmed once payment has been received; late entries are only possible if the invitation allows them.
Travel and accreditation
Plan your journey (see below). On site: accreditation, weigh-in for Kumite and the coaches’ briefing at the times stated in the invitation.
Venue and travel
Address: Sporthalle Hopsagasse, Hopsagasse 7, 1200 Vienna (district Brigittenau) – show on OpenStreetMap.
- Public transport: the hall is in the north of Vienna, close to the Danube. The nearest stations are Dresdner Straße (underground line U6) and Traisengasse (S-Bahn lines S1/S2/S3/S7), each roughly ten minutes on foot. Plan your route with the Wiener Linien app or Google Maps.
- By car: the hall is next to the A22 (Donauuferautobahn), exit Brigittenau/Handelskai. Parking around the hall is limited and mostly short-term parking zones (fees apply Monday to Friday); please check the invitation for parking arrangements on the day.
- From Vienna Airport (VIE): about 30 to 40 minutes by S-Bahn S7 to Traisengasse or by City Airport Train (CAT) to Wien Mitte and on with the underground.
- Accommodation: Vienna has hotels in every price range; the districts Brigittenau (1200), Leopoldstadt (1020) and the city centre are all within 20 minutes of the venue by public transport.
For teams, coaches and referees
- Rules: the tournament is held under the current WKF competition rules for Kata and Kumite. Protective equipment must be WKF-approved (red and blue mitts, shin and foot protection, mouth guard; body and face protection for cadets and juniors as required).
- Documents: athletes need a valid passport of their national federation (ÖKB pass for Austrian athletes) and, for Kumite, must make the weight of their category at the weigh-in.
- Coaches: coach accreditation and coach dress code follow the invitation; only accredited coaches are admitted to the coaching area.
- Referees: the competition is officiated by licensed Austrian and international referees. Referees who wish to officiate at the Vienna Open are welcome to contact the federation in advance.
- Spectators: welcome all day – entry conditions are stated in the invitation.
